About Me.
I’m Fangwei Yan, a producer, sound designer, audio engineer, pianist, keyboardist, songwriter, arranger, and topliner. Born in Auckland and raised in China, and the United States, I’ve spent my entire life moving between cultures. That constant motion of leaving, arriving and adapting shaped my identity and became the core of my music.
I come from a classical piano background, which taught me musicality, discipline, and emotional precision. Today, I channel that foundation into modern production, blending electronic, pop, dance, R&B, indie, and experimental influences. Whether I’m building synth textures, writing melodies, arranging harmonies, or engineering a mix, my process is guided by intuition and feeling.
My work explores themes of identity, transformation, and the emotional complexities of change. Every city I’ve lived in, every relationship I’ve built, and every challenge I’ve faced finds its way into the sound. I don’t aim to tell listeners how to feel—I aim to create space for them to discover their own meaning.
